Hi! I’m Erin.
I built StupidFish because I kept seeing the same thing happen over and over again:
Smart, capable, hardworking people would come to me saying “I feel so stuck.” They had the motivation, the drive, and the willingness to learn, but they just didn’t know where to take it.
I call this “career confusion” — a general feeling of “I’m not happy where I am, but I don’t know what else to do.”
Oftentimes, when I dug deeper, I would observe a mismatch:
An introvert working in sales.
A free spirit working in HR.
A creative working in law.
And they’d think the problem was just them, that they weren’t “good” at anything. They’d be resigned to a reality that work was just something they had to put up with, and that looking forward to weekends, vacations, and retirement would have to be enough.
But this doesn’t sit right with me. The average human will spend 1/3 of their precious life working. So being chained a career you hate means that you’ll be miserable for a large chunk of your life. Work is always going to be work, but why not try to make it something you at least feel like you’re good at?
My mission with StupidFish is to help people find what career naturally fits their personality, goals, and talents—quicker and more efficiently through a hyper intelligent algorithm.
The job market is changing rapidly and a brand new era is on our doorstep.
The current systems don’t work.
The resume is 40 years outdated. It’s clunky, unverifiable, and tedious.
We have critical employment shortages and a surplus of motivated professionals. We need to bridge the skills gap.
We have a demand for more education and upskilling opportunities, but little offerings outside of traditional college educations, which struggle to keep up with real world innovation.
We need updated tools to help professionals and companies navigate the future of work.
60% of the jobs people have today didn’t exist 80 years ago.
Telling high schoolers to just “go to college and get a good job” doesn’t cut it anymore.
We have to expose people to all the opportunities available to them, as early as possible.
Through smart career matching, practical coaching, and improved digital professional portfolios—StupidFish paves the way for the future of hiring.
In a fractured industry like hiring, there is no one quick fix. The issues lay deep in the foundation.
My vision for StupidFish is grand—to make hiring human again. This initial launch is only the first step.
Thank you for being here.
